This video shows you the process we use to create the award and recognition ribbons for Night Ops. These ribbons are typically hung from the Troop Flag or Patrol Flag.
To make the award ribbons, you will need:
- 1.5 inch ribbon
- #0 grommet and associated tools
- Event patches with button loop
- Soldering Iron
- Iron-on, fabric transfers (we use Avery 3279)
The process for printing out and ironing on the words for the award ribbons is not shown as this is fairly easy and straight forward.
While we use a soldering iron in making the award ribbons, you can do something else, but it is the most efficient way we have found to do so (if you have a soldering iron).
We make the following ribbons:
- “Night Ops XXXX” (year) participation ribbon for every troop
- A 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place Ribbon given to the patrols which got the highest scores overall.
- A ribbon for each station, ie “First Aid” to give to the patrol which got the highest score at that station
- Team Spirt and Stealth ribbons could also be made but are more difficult to award.
